Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake

Wednesday, February 27, 2013
One of my favorite ways to enjoy Homemade Strawberry Shortcake is Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake. Chocolate Biscuits covered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream for the ultimate strawberry dessert recipe that would be perfect for Easter.

Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

I made Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake the other day as a treat for my kids. When I saw some gorgeously ripe strawberries in the store I knew it was time to make strawberry shortcake in celebration of spring! I'm ready for some sunshine and warm weather already!

Originally I was going to make standard strawberry shortcake but the chocolate was calling my name.
When I embarked on making these I had this deep chocolate flavor in mind but they ended up rather mild. Tasting one of the biscuits plain left me rather disappointed, I barely could taste the chocolate and I thought they tasted more like a standard biscuit with a slight hint of chocolate...

I decided I wasn't going to try a shortcake last night but the kids and husband enjoyed it a lot. At 2:45 am as my husband was leaving for work I tasted another biscuit and made the comment the flavor improved as they had cooled but it still didn't taste as chocolaty as I had imagined.

I let him know I wasn't going to share this recipe because I didn't think it was worthy. He then told me what are you CRAZY? I looked at him and said are you serious? He said yes they were delicious! You didn't eat a shortcake last night did you? You have to have a shortcake today before you make your finale decision...

So at 8:30 am I enjoyed Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake.. Yes, I enjoyed it for breakfast! It was delicious and the strawberries and whip cream made the chocolate flavor pop just enough to make it noticeable, but not overwhelming!

Colt was right and I'm glad I listened. Just for the record this doesn't happen very often do to my stubbornness!

Here's how I make this delicious Strawberry Shortcake recipe:

Italian Sloppy Joes

Tuesday, February 26, 2013
Italian Sloppy Joes are an easy to make dinner recipes in under 30 minutes! The kids love it from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

A few days ago while I was browsing through Once A Mom Always A Cook's tasty blog I noticed her latest post was Italian Sloppy Joes.

Oh good golly miss molly I was about ready to lick the screen! It was my two favorite parts of spaghetti, the sauce and the french bread in one.

But wait a minute it didn't end there, the bread was smothered in cheesy goodness... Did I mention these are super easy to make and a great weeknight meal?

I was sold, plus I have a serious love for anything with the word sloppy in it!

Just in case you are looking for a more traditional sloppy joe make sure to check out my Homemade Sloppy Joes, or Mexican Sloppy Joes they are another delicious option.

As for these Italian Sloppy Joes they are definitely going into the quick easy dinner rotation.

Crock Pot Chicken And Mushroom Tarragon Gravy

Friday, February 22, 2013
Crock Pot Chicken and Mushrooms Tarragon Gravy is a delicious easy dinner recipe from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

There's nothing quite like Crock Pot Chicken And Mushroom Tarragon Gravy over the top of  garlic mashed potatoes, Eggs Noodles, Skinny Mashed Cauliflower or even Skinny Mashed Yams.

There's just something so comforting about gravy with fork tender pulled chicken, mushrooms and tarragon.

I love that I can make this in a crock-pot and forget it for the next 6-8 hours.

I love the smell the tarragon imparts as it cooks and my husbands face as he walks through the door and is wafted by dinner.

The colors aren't amazing unless you make this with the Skinny Mashed Yams (which is to die for if your a yam lover) but I promise the flavor is amazing!

Spinach Dip From Scratch

Tuesday, February 12, 2013
Homemade Spinach Dip recipe from scratch is a favorite at parties and the holidays. It's an easy to make cold Spinach Dip Recipe without needing dry packaged soup mix. I used Greek Yogurt for the base and just enough mayonnaise that it's not overwhelming. We love it served with crostini, sourdough bread, a variety of vegetables for dipping, and crackers.

I love to have a few dips for parties, Thanksgiving, and Christmas when we are entertaining for variety. A few other favorite dips we like to serve along with Homemade Spinach Dip are Greek Feta Dip, Dill Smoked Salmon Dip, and Hot Crab Dip

Homemade Spinach Dip Recipe from scratch in a white bowl with bageutte around the edge.
I have a serious love of Homemade Spinach Dip. It's a must make at any kind of gathering with it's creamy texture dipped with crusty sourdough bread.

I'll be real honest with you right now my husband usually eats half the container before the company arrives and then tries to come up with some lame excuse with a couple of kisses on the cheek, and says  stuff like baby I just loved it a lot.. (I wonder where Mas our 7 year old finds his charm from.) Some how this wins me over every time, dang him one of these days I will stand strong to this manipulation!

I've used Knorr Vegetable Soup mix in my dip for years along with sour cream and a lot of mayo. So, I set out to come up with a tasty dip minus the soup mix since it contains MSG and to reduce the calories from all the sour cream and mayo.

I used a little turmeric since it has a lot of wonderful healing properties but if you are looking for more of a classic white dip feel free to omit. I won't judge I promise!

Sometimes lunch at our house is a little hodgepodge of whatever I can find without leaving the confines of my cozy abode.  Well alright you busted me some times dinner is made up as I go too..
Thai Kitchen was kind enough to ship a sampler package over of a few products to try out for the upcoming Chinese New Year Celebration! Which was a perfect addition to the lettuce wraps.
The one thing I almost always have on hand is stuff to make some kind of lettuce wrap and last weekend while I was trying to decide what to concoct, lettuce wraps fit the bill!
These are amazing! Yes there I said it once again, another amazing recipe.
