Patriotic Cocktail

With Memorial Day upon us our Sunday Supper crew has teamed up to bring you recipes filled with red white and blue foods to celebrate the long holiday weekend in remembrance of those that gave their lives while in service to our great country.
Colt and I spent 2 days trying to perfect a Patriotic Red White and Blue Cocktail recipe with the colors of the American Flag that not only looked pretty but was equally as delicious and easy to make.
After many attempts to achieve gorgeous layers of red, white and blue with different fruit purees and cream we finally decided on a simple Patriotic Cocktail with whole berries soaked in a mixture of lime for a murky white color, 7up and vodka.
A perfect cocktail to enjoy while celebrating an important day of reflection and patriotism.

Buttermilk Marble Bundt Cake with Chocolate Glaze

Friday, May 22, 2015
An all time favorite easy to make Marble Cake recipe. Moist Buttermilk Cake is marbled with Chocolate swirls then covered with a delicious chocolate glaze.

I made this Buttermilk Marble Bundt Cake With Chocolate Glaze yesterday after Colt accidentally erased the pictures for a Roasted Shrimp Greek Orzo Pasta I had planned for you today.

OMGosh I was devastated because I'm trying to be more consistent for you guys and I thought I might finally be getting ahead again.

But it was the perfect excuse to make a marble cake for the family because who doesn't love cake and the kitchens always been my stress relief.

Chocolate Marble Cake happens to be one of my favorites and I haven't made one in forever so I thought this was the perfect time to share my favorite Buttermilk Marble Bundt Cake I perfected over the years.

It has a moist crumb, lots of chocolate flavor and easy to make glossy chocolate glaze.

Colt ate 3 pieces trying to get a photo perfect slice or at least that was the excuse he gave me. I was barely able to get him to share a bite with me. I pay him in food in exchange for food photos and help in the kitchen.

It's a pretty good deal if you ask me!

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Saturday, May 16, 2015
An easy recipe for Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches and why it's important to incorporate 25g of protein into every meal as part of a healthy diet.

A side shot of Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with a stack of Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches on a platter in the background.
This post is sponsored by The Beef Checkoff in conjunction with a social media campaign through Sunday Supper LLC. All opinions are my own.

This month I've been participating in The Beef Checkoff 30 day Protein Challenge

It's amazing how much better my body feels when I'm consuming 25-30 grams of protein at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

It's helped me cut back on midday and late night snacks by helping me feel full longer.

We've always tried to consume plenty of protein each day to help maintain our weight and build muscle as part of our well balanced diet but I didn't realize how much of a difference consuming enough protein in the morning and at lunch can affect how I feel for the rest of the day.

I've found I have more energy in the mornings on the days I start off with plenty of protein.

After being unable to participate in cardio this last year and a half I know that proteins played a significant role in me maintaining my weight along with a specially developed exercise plan by my Physical Therapist.

Consuming enough protein has been shown to help build muscle and reduce body fat along with healthy eating and exercise.

For me a strict diet isn't a good option because I love different foods to much but The 30 day Protein Challenge has been easy to participate in because I can still consume the foods I love like these Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches for an easy to make hearty lunch.

Blondies With Peanut Butter Swirl

Thursday, May 14, 2015
Brown Butter Blondies with Peanut Butter Swirl are one of my favorite Blondies Brownies recipe. The flavors absolutely delicious. These are great for parties like Super Bowl and 4th of July.

Brown Butter Blondies With Peanut Butter Swirl are a delicious dessert recipe. These are great for Super Bowl Parties and 4th of July.

I couldn't decide last week chocolate chip or peanut butter, cookies or bars. So I went with Brown Butter Blondies With Peanut Butter Swirl because anything with peanut butter swirl is eternally life changing in my book.

These bars have everything I love in a dessert.

A thick chewy chocolate chip bar with swirls of peanut butter deliciousness that make for a gorgeous presentation without much effort.

We couldn't keep our hands out of the pan. We may or may not have eaten over half the pan before Colt could take a few finished photos but just for the record part of that was due to running out of parchment paper.

Sometimes things happen and my kids usually aren't super excited to wait an extra day to enjoy dessert just for a picture so sometimes I compromise. Sometimes I'm on top of my game and I hide dessert until I have finished photos but that didn't happen on this occasion because the kids could smell these Brown Butter Blondies With Peanut Butter Swirl before they even entered the house.

Be warned these don't last long!

Sparkling Strawberry Grapefruit Moscato Punch #SundaySupper

Sunday, May 3, 2015
Sparkling Strawberry Grapefruit Moscato Punch is perfect for Easter or Mothers Day brunch.

Compensation was provided by Gallo Family Vineyards via Sunday Supper, LLC. The opinions expressed herein are those of the author, and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Gallo Family Vineyards.

Today I'm celebrating National Moscato Day with my #SundaySupper Family and Gallo Family Vineyards.

I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy the celebration then sharing my recipe for Sparkling Strawberry Grapefruit Moscato Punch. Colt and I have made different variations of this punch over the years and it's always been a hit!

We love to use Moscato Wine in punch for it's sweet flavor, limiting the need for much additional sugar and it's wonderful complementation to the strawberries and grapefruit.

On this particular occasion I chose to use Gallo Family Vineyards Red Moscato for it gorgeous ruby red color along with delicious notes of berries and citrus. I find the Red Moscato to be perfectly sweet but not too sweet to sip alone. It helps give the punch it's deliciously dark fuchsia color.

I added Pink Moscato Champagne to tingle the tongue a little, strawberries, raspberries, and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice to compliment the Red Moscato.

A refreshing cocktail full of flavor perfect for Mother's Day, Barbecues and Holidays!

I know you will enjoy sipping Sparkling Strawberry Grapefruit Moscato Punch as much as we do.
