Saturday, October 31, 2015
A flavorful and easy to prepare Hot Crab Dip that is easy to prepare. It's a favorite at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, and Tailgating parties since it can be made head of time and baked later. It's made with cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan cheese, shallot, chives, fresh dill, lemon juice, hot sauce, and of coarse lots of delicious lump crab meat.

Are you looking for more delicious Hot Party Dip Recipes? Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip, Hot Cheesy Bacon Dip, and Hot Seafood Artichoke Dip are other reader favorites.

Hot Crab Dip is perfect appetizer for easy entertaining. With the first of November already upon us we are gathering recipes this week for Easy Holiday Entertaining with Sunday Supper!

I don't know about you but I am always looking for ways to make things a little bit easier during the holidays.

I usually add Hot Crab Dip to our hors-d'oeuvre list since it's not only easy to make but can be assembled the night before, refrigerated and then baked right before serving. The less things to worry about once company arrives the better in my book.

Plus Hot Dungness Crab Dip is one of those special things we consider a treat reserved for special occasions making it perfect for your holiday entertaining whether it's Thanksgiving, Christmas or even New Years, it's sure to impress your company.

I also may have a serious crab addiction so the more excuses to enjoy crab the better! I highly recommend Dungeness crab for it's delicious flavor for this recipe, King crab will do to but I would avoid canned crab since the flavor just isn't the same as fresh or frozen.

It makes climbing out of bed on the weekends all the more enticing!

The pumpkin is perfectly balanced with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg with a sticky gooey cinnamon, brown sugar, honey filling and covered with a sweet maple cream cheese frosting.

These Cinnamon Rolls are so good my friends that even if you usually just eat the center you will find yourself savoring every last layer of deliciousness.

Homemade Chicken and Dumplings

Friday, October 23, 2015
Homemade Chicken and Dumplings is a favorite comfort food recipe. It's a great way to use up left over roast chicken and a dinner time favorite from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Colt caught a nasty head cold that's been going around our house over the last week and wasn't feeling great so I thought I would surprise him with some good old fashioned comfort food and there's nothing like a big bowl of Homemade Chicken and Dumplings when your feeling under the weather.

Earlier in the week I had Roasted 2 Chickens to divide into a few meals like Homemade Chicken and Dumplings or Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and Chicken Enchiladas. The roasted chicken bones really add a wonderful depth of flavor to the broth that can't be beat and really helps stretch your dollar by not needing to buy Chicken Broth from the store. And as Granny always said, "waste not want not."

I usually stock up on whole chickens when they go on sale since they are so versatile and perfect for stretching into multiple meals to help cut down on the ever growing grocery bill.

My recipe for Homemade Chicken and Dumplings isn't in a super thick sauce but more of a velvety thickened soup that's filling but doesn't leave you feeling weighed down.

If your looking for something a little healthier Chicken and Dumplings with Swiss Chard happen to be another favorite when were feeling under the weather, the broth is lighter and the swiss chard really makes the soup filling.

But sometimes the soul requires something a little more traditional and for that these heartier Homemade Chicken and Dumplings will do!

Here's how to make Chicken and Dumplings.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Honey Mustard Baked Ham

Slow Cooker Pineapple Honey Mustard Baked Ham is a favorite Crock Pot Ham with Pineapple recipe is a favorite for holiday gatherings to free up oven space.

Is it really almost the end of October already? Time always seems to go way to fast, so I thought I better share our families favorite Slow Cooker Pineapple Honey Mustard Baked Ham before Thanksgiving and Christmas are upon us.

I'm one of those weird people that start menu planning like a month ahead of time so I figured if your like me I better get the recipe to you now!

I've been craving Slow Cooker Pineapple Honey Mustard Baked Ham for the last few weeks and couldn't think of a better excuse to make a Ham then I was sure your ready for ham too. I made Colt drive out to our favorite meat shop 2 weekends in a row because they were sold out of ham the first trip. Lucky for us they had 1 ham left the second trip or Colt might have told me to give up the craving. It's not like I can pull the pregnancy craving card anymore!

I highly suggest calling around to your local butcher to see if they carry locally dry cured ham, you'll be amazed at the flavor difference. The one from our local butcher is so much more flavorful and less salty then anything I've come across in the supermarket. The flavor just can't be beat!

I love all the leftovers for Ham Sandwiches plus to make Tuscan Ham and Bean Soup or Crock-Pot Chipotle Ham and Bean Soup. It's always like 3 meals in one!

I usually will bake Ham in the oven at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes per pound but over the last few years I've been using the slow cooker more and more since it leaves room in the oven if I'm also making a Turkey or Roast Beef plus it's easy to do and requires very little maintenance.

Either way you cook this Slow Cooked Pineapple Honey Mustard Baked Ham you just can't go wrong.

French Onion Soup

Monday, October 12, 2015
The best French Onion Soup from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

I always crave French Onion Soup this time of year between the colds that go around and  the weather, it's a perfect bowl of comfort.

There's just something about the caramelized onions simmered in a deep beef stock covered with a crusty crouton and smothered in hot bubbly cheese that makes French Onion Soup a labor of love type of recipe, it's a bit time consuming but worth every minute.

I separated this recipe into 2 parts sharing my recipe for Homemade Beef Stock a few days ago. I really feel for French Onion Soup Homemade Beef Stock is an important part of the recipe, I have yet to find a store bought Beef Stock with the flavor you get from the homemade version and find it worth the time it takes to make.

When I have time I like to make a pot of French Onion Soup and freeze individual servings for busy weeknights or an easy lunch.

Here's how I make my families favorite French Onion Soup:

Homemade Beef Stock

Saturday, October 10, 2015
Easy to make Homemade Beef Stock recipe is the perfect base for Homemade Beef Soup like French Onion from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

I didn't get a really good photo of just this hearty Homemade Beef Stock because it's part of the French Onion Soup recipe I'll be posting on Monday but as I was working on the recipe I decided it would just be easier if I shared my recipe for Homemade Beef Stock as a separate post since I received some flack over using Beef Broth in my Beef Stroganoff and not including my recipe some time ago.

I do use high quality store bought Beef Stock on occasion but nothing can compare to Homemade Beef Stock for it's hearty richness and silky texture from the bones.

Some recipes just aren't the same without Homemade Beef Stock like French Onion Soup. It's actually rather easy to make other then the long simmer and can be frozen for future use.

I will usually ask the butcher for meaty neck bones and find roasting the bones with the veggies prior to simmering makes for a glorious stock.

The meat from the neck bones is similar to chuck meat in that it is tender and juicy so after simmering the stock for 3-4 hours and straining the veggies I remove the meat off the bones to freeze it for my next batch of Crockpot Beef Vegetable Barley Soup or even Taco Soup in place of the hamburger.

The only warning I have is after making Homemade Beef Stock is it will be hard to use anything else!

Ok now that I've talked your ear off here's how to make Homemade Beef Stock:

Crockpot Sweet And Sour Chicken

Friday, October 2, 2015

Easy to make Crockpot Sweet and Sour Chicken is the perfect end to a busy day.Crockpot Sweet and Sour Chicken an easy to make dinner for a busy weeknight!

My recent obsession with Sweet and Sour Recipes is no secret it's been my thing lately.
I'm not sure if it has to do with fall or the fact my favorite Chinese spot is no longer around so it's either do it myself or go through Chinese food withdrawals the rest of my life.
Personally I'm picking option 1 because 2 really isn't an option in my book.
Crock Pot Sweet and Sour Chicken is so easy to toss together and perfect for those nights you don't have much time to hang in the kitchen.
I loaded it with pineapple, bell peppers, carrots and sugar peas so all it really needs is some steamed or fried rice and bam dinners done!
I don't think it can get much easier then this!
