Seafood Dip is a favorite appetizer for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve parties from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Two of my favorite appetizers happen to be Artichoke Dip and Hot Crab Dip, so I took all my favorite things to the next level of deliciousness with this Hot Seafood Artichoke Dip recipe.

I loaded this dip recipe with plenty of Crab, Bay Shrimp, Artichokes, Herbs, Parmesan and Fontina Cheese in a creamy cheesy cream cheese base.

It takes under 15 minutes to assemble before popping it into the oven making it a simple party staple! Or can be assembled ahead of time and heated before serving to save time.

Easy to make Fully Loaded Nachos an easy dinner for back-to-school.
L.J.'s been begging me for over a week to make my recipe for  Fully Loaded Nachos, so we made Nachos instead of Taco's for Taco Tuesday. So I guess we had Nacho Tuesday, it might be a new thing in our house because I've already had multiple requests to have Fully Loaded Nachos again.

Fully Loaded Nachos are super simple to make and great for those busy weeknights with the kids back-to-school, the whole family will love! We also love these for an easy lunch on the weekend. It's a super simple meal packed with plenty of flavor!

Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal

Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal
Oatmeal's a breakfast time staple in our house, with back-to-school quickly approaching I wanted to share my recipe for Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal. It's a fun way to keep breakfast simple and nutritious for the whole family! It also makes it a little bit easier to climb out of bed during those chilly fall mornings that will soon arrive.

The peanut butter and chocolate chips gives this oatmeal a flavor reminiscent of a beloved peanut butter cup while the banana acts as a natural sweetener. If you aren't fond of banana, maple syrup or brown sugar makes a great substitute, and equally delicious.

Either way it's a favorite way to start the day!

Cheesy Pork Chop Potato Casserole

Cheesy Pork Chop Potato Casserole Recipe

I broke down and started the oven the other night to make Cheesy Pork Chop Potato Casserole, because we ran out of briquettes to barbecue, and comfort food was calling my name.

LJ told me about 3 times Cheesy Pork Chop Casserole tastes like Christmas dinner! I'm assuming it's the Potatoes Au Gratin I usually make around the holidays he's referring to, but I don't think I've ever seen that kid so excited about food!
Actually the whole family was beyond content and dibs started going around the table on the leftovers for lunch the next day.

This recipe for Cheesy Pork Chop Casserole combines Potatoes Au Gratin, with Fried Pork Chops, with plenty of extra Cheesy Sauce, for smothering over the top of your pork chop.

It's comfort food at it's finest, and sure to be a family favorite.

Baked Beans From Scratch

Monday, August 15, 2016
Our Classic Baked Beans From Scratch are a family favorite for picnics, potlucks, and barbecues that everyone loves. Homemade Baked Beans are an easy recipe to make and great for Father's Day Barbecues, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. They go so well with just about any meat you throw on the grill.

If you're needing to save time you can use 4 15 ounce cans Great Northern Beans in place of dried beans in a pinch.

We also love to serve Italian Antipasto Pasta Salad and Jalapeño Coleslaw when we barbecue.

Baked Beans From Scratch in a large cast iron skillet.

I've been meaning to redo the pictures for Baked Beans From Scratch for the last 3 years but it never seemed to work out whenever  I made them, so this last weekend Colt snapped a photo before they were devoured.

If you've never made Baked Beans they are super easy to make and worth the effort, the flavors are amazing, and so much better then anything you might find in a can!

Absolutely perfect for your next barbecue.

Spinach Fontina Frittata

Spinach Fontina Frittata
Years ago my Tutu "Hawaiian for Grandmother" had made something similar to a Spinach Frittata when I spent part of the summer visiting them in Hawaii probably after a long day of playing at the beach or out shopping for school clothes. I loved how comforting the Frittata was and similar to Quiche minus the crust. It still evokes wonderful memories of my time with my Grandparents when I make this.

Now that I'm older I love the simplicity of this Spinach Fontina Frittata. It's easy enough to make for the family before they head off to work or school, but hearty enough for a simple dinner. I will sometimes add about a 1/4 lb of ground chorizo to the onions, which the boys prefer, and perfect for those protein lovers in your life.

I love that it's all made in one skillet, and then baked in the oven keeping the dishes to a minimum.. It's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and a great way to use up leftover bit's and pieces of stuff from the fridge. I'm sure your family will love it as much as mine.

Blackberry Crisp

Monday, August 8, 2016
Blackberry Crisp is easy enough for kids to make but tasty enough dessert recipe to serve to company with pride from Serena Bakes Simply from Scratch.

The kids have been busy picking blackberries the last week, so I decided to surprise them with a Blackberry Crisp for all their hard work!

I usually will make Blackberry Cobbler,  but I was in the mood for Crisp on this occasion with it's lemony, vanilla, almond crust, and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream! It's easy enough for even the kids to make, but tasty enough to serve to company with pride.

Blackberry Crisp is the ultimate summer dessert and the perfect way to celebrate the summer's bounty of berries!

Onion Rings

Onion Rings

Colt's pretty much the Onion Ring connoisseur around our house.

Whenever we go out to eat if Onion Rings are on the menu he's ordering them. So I know when he says these are the best, he knows what he's talking about.

He built his case as follows:

  1.  It's all about the light and crunchy seasoned coating- this is accomplished using panko bread crumbs.
  2. Nice thick slices of sweet white onion- we find Walla Walla or Vidalia Onions perfect for this.
  3.  Not overly greasy in a heavy soggy shell - two huge pet peeves when ordering Onion Rings.
I have to agree with him on all these points. There's really only 1 other place in our area that even come close to these little mouthfuls of heaven, making it well worth learning how to make Homemade Onion Rings!

Here's how to make fried Onion Rings from scratch:
