It doesn't get much better then Honey Mustard Chicken!

It's one of my staple dishes I've been making for eons; the sweet honey with the bite of grainy mustard makes this a family favorite, and I love how easy it is to assemble in under 5 minutes!

Colt and I teamed up in the kitchen Thursday night to make this, along side a super tasty Fuji Apple Spinach Bacon Salad With A Creamy Honey Mustard Vinaigrette, OMG it was so good!I'll be sharing the recipe for the salad later in the week, I strongly suggest making them together!

Did I mention it was so good??

I can't tell you how many times we've made Honey Mustard Chicken since I've been writing the blog, but something always seemed to prevent the finished photos from happening, but Colt made it a point to make sure he captured this deliciousness for you.

I think I better add Honey Mustard Chicken to next weeks dinner plan while I'm thinking of it.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Crab Stuffed Mushrooms are a delicious gourmet appetizer recipe. These are always a favorite for Thanksgiving and Christmas and can be assembled ahead of time.

Cream Cheese, Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Lumb Dungeness Crab Meat, Parmesan Cheese, Chives, Dill and Seasoning makes the filling for these Crab Stuffed Mushrooms. Then they are topped with a buttery Panko Bread Crumb Topping. These never last long for parties.

A side shot of Crab Stuffed Mushroom filled with creamy cream cheese dungeness crab filling topped with buttery panko crumbs.

Colt and I decided to make Crab Stuffed Mushrooms with the last crab we had remaining in the freezer. Crab is always considered a treat in our house even when were lucky enough to have a friend drop off a few from a day of crabbing. Yes, we are lucky enough to have friends that occasionally share their catch. Crab Stuffed Mushrooms are the perfect way to stretch crab when you only have a 1/2- 3/4lb to use and a fun treat for a special occasion.

I love mushrooms, but Lorna not so much; however,  if I fill them with crab I can't seem to keep her hands off of them.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms are definitely a family favorite, and fun to share with company. Button or crimini mushrooms are filled with a creamy, cheesy, herb, mushroom, and crab filling based on my Hot Crab Dip, then covered with a panko, parmesan topping, for a little crunch!

These little gems can be prepped ahead of time and then popped in the oven until golden brown for an easy entertaining appetizer.

How To Clean A Messy Microwave 101
Last weekend one of the kids heated up soup in the microwave without placing a cover over the top.
As you can see the results were rather messy, on top of that it wasn't wiped up right away, and quickly became a dried on mess.
I don't know how many times I've asked the kids to please just place a paper towel over the top of the food so we don't have the issue, but every so often someone forgets.
Luckily it gave me the perfect excuse to share with you how I clean my microwave!

Crock Pot Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya

Crock Pot Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya is easy to make Southern dinner recipe from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

This post is sponsored by McCormick in conjunction with a social media campaign through Sunday Supper LLC. All opinions are those of the individual bloggers.

For this week's Sunday Supper we are celebrating Mardi Gras with  Zatarain's and all recipes are variations of Jambalaya! How super fun is that?

There's something about the fact that Mardi Gras day is historically food focused that leaves me intrigued. I can only imagine all the delicious variations of Jambalaya, Gumbo and all the other local delicacies to sample while taking in the parade.

I love making this Crock Pot Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya to celebrate Mardi Gras in our house, since it's a great excuse to enjoy different cuisine with the kids, and culture. Crock Pot Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya is a family favorite. It's so easy to make and requires only a little prep work.

We love making this on nights where the kids have sports practice or activities since the crock pot keeps dinner warm until ready to enjoy for those who might be joining us late at the dinner table! It's also a great dish for potlucks and parties since it's full of flavor but easy to make!

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread recipe is a favorite for breakfast or dessert with a delicious light crumb and plenty of lemon shining through.

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread recipe is a favorite for breakfast or dessert with a delicious light crumb and plenty of lemon shining through. A favorite Lemon Loaf from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

I've been dreaming of making this Lemon Poppy Seed Bread for weeks.

I kept telling Colt every time we stepped foot in Trader Joes we need a bag of lemons so I can make my Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf.

It's one of those weird things if we don't buy them they'll be gone, but of course when we do I still have a bag that wasn't touched.

I'm sure Colt and the kids were leaving the lemons in anticipation of me finally using them.

Yesterday morning I realized I had 5 bags of lemons in the fridge, I may have discovered I have a problem with hoarding lemons. This is what happens if I don't create a detailed list before heading to the grocery store, and I'll forget the one thing that I really need like milk.

I can't believe it took me this long to make this loaf since it really is super easy.

I also loved how the kids all went straight to the kitchen after school to find out what I was baking.

I've discovered when I'm having a difficult day doing something nice for someone else like Colt and the kids definitely helps me to feel better, and this loaf accomplished just that!

The hardest part was keeping LJ away from the Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf until Colt could take the finished photos, the kid was like a vulture, and only asked a million times when he could have a slice.

This Lemon Loaf is perfect in just about every way with a divine crumb, not overly sweet, and plenty of lemon shining through.

The hardest part is sharing the loaf, next time I'll need to make 2!

Here's how I make my Lemon Poppy Seed Bread:

Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo

Tuesday, February 2, 2016
Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo is slow simmered and filled with lots of delicious flavor from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Last week when the weather was rainy and overcast Colt and I made a batch of Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo to warm the soul on a chilly day.

Even though I'm far from southern I've always been drawn to the food and recipes.

The long slow simmer of roux in Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo is an important step to building a rich, smokey, mahogany roux, with fabulous flavor.

It's not a dish to make when your in a rush, but well worth the time spent to build the flavors.
I can't promise this recipe for Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo is authentic since I'm a Northwest girl, but I can promise you the taste will tantalize your taste buds, and leaves the memory lingering long after it's gone.

Shrimp and Sausage Gumbos a fun way to celebrate Mardi Gras without leaving the house, and a great excuse to invite company over to enjoy.
