Flaky Blackberry Turnover Recipe with step by step instructions and photos.

Flaky Blackberry Turnovers from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Warning this Flaky Blackberry Turnover recipe contains butter, lots, and lots of butter! This is the most delicious flaky crust I have ever come across and that is saying a lot since I make one heck of a pie crust. A handheld pie delivered straight from heaven!

A while back I had won Dorie Greenspan's Baking From My Home To Yours and Around My French Table from Ann at Cooking Healthy For Me right before she went into semi retirement. We miss you Ann and your wonderful blog! I have been waiting to share a few of the delicious recipes out of the books with everyone but it seemed like something always came in the way until today. The last time the computer went on the fritz and I had lost all my pictures from the lap top, what a day that was... So I'm finally excited to share a new favorite Flaky Blackberry Turnovers adapted from Dorie Greenspan's Flaky Apple Turnovers.
Now go buy the Dorie Greenspan book's they are well worth the money and if nothing else drool over the photo's!

Tarragon Chicken With Fennel And Zucchini

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

With fall fast approaching I thought it was time for me to start sharing some of my favorite cold weather dish's. I might be alone in this but I am starting to yearn for autumn colors, tall boots with skinny jeans, cozy sweaters, fires to cuddle with Hunny in front of and of course the comfort foods of fall. Soups and stews in the summer time is never quite the same as in the fall. With that being said I will share a favorite dish for the overabundance this time of year of zucchini as the days become colder, the nights longer and the kids head back to school.

Whole Roasted BBQ Rosemary Garlic Lemon Chicken

Whole Roasted BBQ Rosemary Garlic Lemon Chicken
Easy, healthy and delicious Whole Roasted Bar-B-Que Rosemary Garlic Lemon Chicken. There's nothing quite like the flavor of a whole chicken cooked on a charcoal grill. In the summer it's delicious just to have a roast chicken and a lot of fresh veggies tossed onto the grill about 8 minutes before the chicken is done.  A few more one pan meals I love to make are Chicken And Red PotatoesOne Pan Chicken With Cauliflower and Roasted Chicken Dinner In One Pan

A Family Day Hiking At Denny Creek Near Snoqualmie Pass WA

Thursday, August 23, 2012
We took the kiddos up hiking last week when the weather here near Seattle finally topped 95 degrees to Denny Creek up near Snoqualmie Pass. It is one of my all time favorite short hikes and a must do anytime the weather here passes the 85 degree mark!

The water in the creek runs low this time of year perfect for the kids to slide on the slippery rocks with a few deeper pools under a few of the small waterfalls deep enough for a quick swim. The water happened to be icy cold but it felt wonderful after the 95 degree heat and the hike.

Roasted Tomato Pasta Recipe is the perfect way to use up garden fresh tomatoes from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Roasted Tomato Pasta a perfect use for the over abundance of cherry tomatoes growing in the yard this time of year and a fresh light spin for a Meatless Monday night dinner.

The easy light fresh sauce combined with the pop in your mouth roasted tomatoes creates a wonderful easy one pan dinner.

We enjoyed this with a nice glass of organic Pinot Grigio and homemade Easy Chessy Garlic and Herb Bread  Sticks

Lemon Vinaigrette Recipe
I have a new found love for lemon vinaigrette  after having a side salad at Fleetwoods On Maui. They made a fabulous butter lettuce side salad with a lemon vinaigrette. With executive chef Scott Leibfried of Hells Kitchen you know the food was divine!

So for the first meal back at the good old homestead I decided to reconstruct the lemon vinaigrette.

I am now even more in love then I was the first time I tried it, and it made an amazing marinade for the Salmon I will post later.

A Little Trip To Maui

Thursday, August 9, 2012
Were finally back from Maui.

I never had the intention of totally leaving the blog for a week and a half, I hope you all forgive me. But God seemed to see fit for me to take a total vacation. We watched no T.V. and had no internet since our lap top had gone on the fritz a week prior to us leaving. We had such a fabulous time away with our kiddo's.

We cooked, we ate, we played but most importantly we were able to enjoy each other!  We will probably never go back to Maui, we had a great time but we discovered Kauai is our favorite island so far!
