Garlic Pasta  is one of those simple side dishes we eat on a regular basis.

Whenever I wonder what to have with dinner my husband usually request garlic pasta. It is easy, quick and flavorfull.

Heat oil in pan over medium-high heat. I use the same pan I cooked my pasta in, as the pasta drains save 1/4 cup pasta water.

Add onion and sauté until carmelized. (If you haven't noticed by now I love carmelized onions!) Then add garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Stir until garlic is soft, making sure not to burn the garlic or the pasta will be bitter! Add the 1/4cup pasta water, cooked pasta, 1/2 a squeezed lemon and parmesan cheese.

Toss until well coated.

Ingredients:
  • 12 oz pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup pasta water from cooked pasta
  • 1/2 whole lemon
  • 1/4 cup parmeasean cheese
Preparation Instructions:

Boil water in  a large pot over high heat. When boiling generously salt water and add pasta. Cook until al dente according to instructions on pasta box. Save 1/4 cup of pasta water and drain.

Place oil and butter in pot over medium-high heat and melt. Add onion and saute until golden brown. Add garlic, granulated garlic, salt, pepper, italian seasoning and cook until garlic is softened and fragrant making sure not to burn garlic. Add reserved pasta water, lemon and parmesean and toss to coat. Pasta is done when it is hot. Enjoy! Also great with pepper flakes or jalapeno!
