Cajun Shrimp Sausage Pasta

Easy Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta is loaded with shrimp, sausage, and pasta in a creamy cheesy cajun fontina sauce all made in one pot. It's so delicious and easy to assemble dinner recipe.

Are you in need of an easy dinner idea? Cajun Shrimp Sausage is sure to hit the spot. It's loaded with shrimp, sausage, and pasta in a creamy cheesy cajun fontina sauce. It's so delicious and easy to assemble. It's pure and simple comfort food at it's best. 

It was the perfect way to break in the new pan Lorna gave me for Christmas! I'm absolutely in love with porcelain glazed cast iron at the moment, and I understand why my Granny always loved hers so much.

Cajun Shrimp Sausage Pasta is one of my easy go to 30 Minute Meals that helps ensure at the end of a busy day we still have time to sit down and enjoy dinner together as a family. It's amazing how much conversation happens in our house each night at the dinner table. I think it's one of the most important rituals we do in our house.

Here's how I  make Cajun Shrimp Sausage Pasta...

In a large deep skillet or pot add 2 tablespoons Olive Oil, and heat until hot. Add 1 1/2 pounds Peeled Shrimp.

Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until bright pink. Remove from pan and set aside.

Sausage and Onion added to red pan for Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta.

Add: 
  • 1/2 whole Diced Onion
  • 8 ounces Sliced Smoked Andouille Sausage
Cook until onion is softened, and sausage is lightly brown.

Brown Sausage, Diced Bell Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Smoked Paprika, and Salt in a red pot for Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta.

Add: 
  • 1 whole Diced Bell Pepper
  • 1/8th-1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

Pasta, Chicken Stock and Heavy Cream added to Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta.


Stir in:
  • 16 ounces Dried Pasta like Penne
  • 4 cups Chicken Stock
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream or Half and Half

Bring to a simmer, cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 13 minutes. Remove lid and cook an additional 2-3 minutes, until sauce is thickened.

Remove from heat. Stir in 1 1/2 cups Fontina Cheese (if it's smoked fontina it's all the better), and Cooked Shrimp. Stir until cheese is melted.

Cajun Shrimp Sausage Pasta is so good! Easy, saucy, cheesy deliciousness!

You can garnish with a little chopped parsley for color if you happen to have some in the fridge.
