Grilled Cheese and Black Forest Ham Sandwich

Monday, April 3, 2023
The iconic Grilled Cheese Sandwich taken to a whole new level with this Loaded Sharp Cheddar and Black Forest Ham Grilled Cheese Sandwich. This Grilled Cheese Sandwiches is kicked up a notch with bacon, sliced tomatoes, dijon mustard, avocado, red onion, and pepperoncinis.

These Fancy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are grilled open face to toast the bread and melt the cheese but making it possible to top with lettuce at the end for texture.

A Loaded Grilled Cheese and Black Forest Ham Sandwich sliced in half and stacked on top of one another on a piece of parchment paper.

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are the  coziest of comfort foods that evokes nostalgic early childhood memories from the smell of the bread browning in the butter to the taste of the strings of melted cheesy goodness.

I decided to share our favorite Loaded Sharp Cheddar and Black Forest Ham Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

We just happened to take a really good thing and give it one heck of an upgrade. It takes the iconic American Grilled Cheese Sandwich to a whole new level and just happens to be the most requested sandwich in our house.

Colt's been making this sandwich for the last few years as a lunch, quick weeknight staple or late night snack. It's filling enough alone, served with Homemade JoJo's or perfect with a bowl Tomato Soup.
You just can't go wrong however you serve it.

Bacon has become a newer addition to our sandwich because everything's better with bacon and is totally optional but it does add an incredible smokiness that can't be beat. We also started using a little mashed avocado instead of mayo for health reasons and we prefer the flavor. If onions or pepperoncini aren't your thing just leave them out.

The great thing about this sandwich is it can be customized however you like. You can never go wrong with a Loaded Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
Oh my these were so good!
   You have to make 'em!
Colt and I assembled these little beauties before yesterdays Seahawks game and they didn't last long.
Even Lorna the proclaimed mushroom hater ate way more then her fair share.
When she was little she insisted on the fact she hated mushrooms so I would add them to things like a brown rice and shiitake mushroom soup and tell her they were calamari..
She gobbled the mushrooms right up.. Ha..Ha..
I'm probably a little bit evil when it comes to food.
I've converted several of the kids friends to eating more then spaghetti noodles with butter with the simple explanation that to have dinner at our house you have to try a bite of everything.
One of L.J.'s friends still laughs when he has dinner at our house because he discovered he loves salmon..
Ok any who back to the mushrooms...
Colt had set a few mushrooms aside because the boys were at their friends house playing.
So when they returned they were rather disappointed when they couldn't find the Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms he set aside for them.
Fast forward about 10 minutes and Colt grabs the leftover Stuffed Mushrooms and proclaims he's eating the last of the mushrooms since the boys didn't eat them.
Lorna and I both yell no at the same time and say, "The boys were searching all over for those."
He had these little delicacies  hidden in the microwave, sneaky, sneaky..
Mas devoured the last of 'em.
These were so good I'm about to go out on a huge limb and say these were the best Stuffed Mushrooms I've ever had!
We've ate a lot of stuffed Mushrooms over the years and we all agreed these were over the top good.

Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

Cheesy-Scalloped-Potatoes.jpg
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes, Potatoes Au Gratin call them what you will but they are simply heaven on a fork. The leftovers are always fought over at our dinner table. I mean who doesn't like creamy cheesy potatoes? Pass the fork and move out of the way! I reduced the calories in the potatoes a bit by using chicken stock, it also added a fabulous flavor to the potatoes. Simply divine.

Broccoli Cheddar Cheese Soup Gluten Free

Broccoli-Cheddar-Soup-Gluten-Free.jpg
I love broccoli cheddar soup and so do the kids. Could there be anything better then broccoli and cheese in a soup? This is a fabulous meal when you have an over abundance of broccoli in the yard and start running out of creative uses for it! Creamy, cheesy, deliciousness...How you warm my heart and make me happy..
I have used cornstarch in this recipe over traditional flour for all my gluten free friends, the kids couldn't seem to tell the difference. I buy cornstarch over in the organic bulk section of the store and look for one that isn't genetically modified and organic. If you have concerns about cornstarch make sure to read the ingredient label to make sure it's gluten free..
