Banana Cream Pie..Oh My!

This is another husband wooing recipe. Guaranteed to get him every time! It is so delicious! I could go on all day salivating at my picture but sadly enough.. The pie is long gone...tears..So we will move on and I will share my top secret, guaranteed to make my husband happy, banana cream pie recipe. Most of the time I will simmer a vanilla bean in the milk before I add the eggs. I then remove the vanilla bean and scrape the seeds and place them back into the pudding mixture instead of using vanilla extract. But I will say it's great either way and the extract is less work. Just make sure it is extract and not flavor (yuck).

Black Beans and Rice Cheap Eats

This is a super cheap eats dinner. I do believe it runs about 5 buck'o'la's for the whole meal with left overs for a family of five. I also love when I am more prepared I can throw everything into a crock pot the night before, place it in the fridge so in the morning I can pop it in the base and hit start . Then after cooking all day without any work dinner is done! It also qualifies in my book for our weekly meatless dinner we try to do. Triple Bonus! The kids and hubby like it with a little cheese on top and I still am sneaking brown rice past the kids by 1/2 brown/ 1/2 white. I am going to up it to 3/4 brown to 1/4 white I think here soon and see if they notice.  Leftovers are great in a burrito the next day with some chicken and homemade Spanish rice, like my recipe for oven baked burritos.

Mineola Orange Honey Mustard Chicken



This Chicken was so delicious and moist. The kids thought it had a slight teriyaki chicken taste and asked for this to be a regular dinner option. I used the bones and made chicken stock the same night. It was so worth the time, I really believe it was the best stock I ever had. I used my regular stock recipe and just boiled the bones. This was made during the week I miss placed the camera plug, so it is a delayed recipe but so worth it to make! Some of the pictures are a bit blurry from the batteries on the camera going dead, I apologize before hand!



Garden Update!

I walked out and discovered a gold mine in my garden! It sure has taken off and I have been picking salads every other night! I can't wait until the broccoli comes in! The poor pea's on the other hand just won't grow!

Logan And The Netti Pot Demonstration!

This is our ultimate stuffy nose problem solver! It works better then any decongestant. My son was sick a few weeks ago and couldn't breath through his nose, so he asked to use the Netti pot and suggested we do a demonstration. This solved the problem and he was able to sleep fine that night. Our whole family uses the Netti pot including the youngest who is 6. It feels a bit strange the first few times as the salt water will run through 1 nostril and out the lower nostril. If you are extremely congested it might not run out the other side but will loosen it up, you'll be surprise what will move!

Berry Cobbler

This is a very simple delicious cobbler recipe! So delicious to use with all the extra berries from the yard! This recipe came to me from my friend Rachelle, I have changed it a bit to cut down on sugar in the berry mixture, have added vanilla to the topping for flavor and subbed 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour for part of the topping , this is a delicious cobbler and very simple.
