Homemade Rocky Road Ice Cream

Homemade-Rocky-Road-Ice-Cream.jpg
I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream! Who doesn't just love rocky road ice cream? It's a smash hit in our house. Our kids have a fun time helping create the ice cream, the boys had fun helping stir and add ingredients as needed. I also love that there is no question about what ingredients are in the ice cream, since it's from scratch. If were going to get real here there are very few ice creams quite as good..

In a ice cream maker add chocolate-cream mixture and process according to manufacturers instructions. I processed mine for 15 minutes until looking almost like soft serve ice cream. After 15 minutes I added the sliced almonds.

Can't forget the marshmallows and process another 5 minutes.
Homemade-Rocky-Road-Ice-Cream-Freeze.jpg
After 20 minutes ice cream should look like soft serve. Remove ice cream mixture to a freezer safe container. I used a plastic storage container this time but next time I am going to try a left over yogurt container. I think it might hold up better when scooping. Freeze for at least 6 hours or until firm.
