Mint Oreo Cookie Balls

Mint Oreo Cookie Balls
I've partnered with Yummly to bring you this post that's sponsored by Oreo all thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you love Oreo's and mint this recipe is for you my friend.
Mint Oreo Cookie Balls taste like a creamy chocolatey minty Oreo cookie truffle dipped in mint chocolate. A little bite of heaven for the holidays. Even if you don't like mint this recipes for you, just don't add it. (I promise not to tell.)

I've actually made these twice already in the last few weeks because the first time Colt and the kids had a taste testing before we had finished the photo's. So you know they were so disappointed when they found out I had to make another batch, not!

The best part of making these the second time was the kids and Colt were more then willing to help roll, dip and sprinkle the Oreo balls. Such a fun treat to make for the Holidays as a family.

I can guarantee you these will be made a few more times before Christmas.

Crush Oreos until fine crumbs. I used the food processor and pulsed until fine but they could easily be crushed in a large plastic ziploc bag.

Add softened cream cheese and peppermint extract to a bowl. Mix on medium speed until creamy and  throughly combined.
Scrape sides of the bowl and add all the Oreo cookie crumbs to the cream cheese mixture. Mix on medium speed until throughly combined.
I added peppermint extract 1/4 teaspoon at a time until I had a nice light minty flavor at 1 teaspoon, if you like more mint feel free to add more to taste.

Shape into 48 (1") balls and place on a parchment or wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Freeze Oreo balls for 10 minutes.

Place 1/2 cup heavy cream in a small pan over medium heat and warm until scalding hot, not boiling. Remove from heat and add 16 ounces semi sweet chocolate. Allow chocolate to sit for about 5 minutes until melted. Stir chocolate well. Chocolate should be smooth and glossy. If it's a little too thick for dipping place chocolate back onto stove and stir until smooth. Add mint extract and stir until well combined.

Remove from heat and use a fork to dip the Oreo Cookie Balls into melted mint chocolate.

Place in a single layer on a parchment or wax paper lined pan. Sprinkle with sprinkles or crushed Oreos for decoration.
Place back into the refrigerator for another hour or until firm.

We did half the Mint Oreo Cookie Balls sprinkled with red, green and white sprinkles.

The other half we used crushed Oreo's. Check out how dark and chocolaty the filling is! So divine.
I still can't decide if I like the crushed Oreo's or sprinkles best on top, you can be the judge!
