Winter Fruit Salad

Winter Fruit Salad is filled with Oranger, Grapefruit, Pears, and Pomegranate Seeds with an easy Feta Poppy Seed Dressing. A favorite for Thanksgiving and Christmas from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Winter Fruit Salad with Feta Poppy Seed Dressing has all the winter fruit I love.. The smell of the fresh citrus at the market always leaves me inspired this time of year.

Fruit Salad in the winter is a great way to enjoy fruit for brunch, lunch, or dinner, and it makes a great accompaniment to holiday gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The feta really adds a nice contrast of flavors to the oranges, grapefruit, and pears. The Feta Poppy Seed Dressing helps the Winter Fruit Salad keep from browning with all the citrus juice, and really brings the flavors together.

Even if you are hesitant of feta in the Winter Fruit Salad I suggest giving it a try, LJ is fairly particular about cheese, but absolutely loved the feta with the winter fruit.

Here's the recipe for Winter Fruit Salad with a Citrus Honey Poppy Seed Dressing.

How To Assemble The Ultimate Cheese Board with 13 Dips

How To Assemble The Ultimate Cheese Plate with 13 different Dips for the holidays!

With Thanksgiving almost upon us I thought I would share a few of my favorite tips, and tricks, to assemble The Ultimate Cheese Board with 13 Favorite Dips. There's something fun and exciting about the revealing of a gorgeous arrangement of snacks at gatherings. People love to nibble while waiting for dinner, and a well arranged Cheese Platter can keep everyone content even if delayed.

When assembling a Cheese Tray I usually aim for 2-4 different varieties so there's something for everyone. The first cheese I choose is something simple like an aged cheddar, or on this occasion we used a Dill Havarti. The next cheese or two can be something a little more daring, if you like to try new things. I had made an Herbed Goat Cheese Spread on this occasion, the creamy texture makes a wonderful addition to the meats and cheeses.

Once I have decided on cheeses I move on to adding 1-2 Meats like Salami, Coppa, or Prosciutto. I also limit bread and crackers to 2-3 options, or it can simple become to much. I will also usually choose a favorite dip or two, if we are feeding a crowd.

Finally I choose fillers like dried or fresh fruit, nuts, vegetables, olives, and pickles.

I like to use a large wooden board or marble slab to arrange everything for simple nibbling.

Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup With Collard Greens

Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup With Collard Greens a great use for leftover holiday ham!

Brrr... It's been rather chilly the last few days, leaving me craving any kind of hearty soup. I love Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup with Collard Greens since it's thick and creamy. The perfect comfort food on a cold day.

If your lucky enough to have leftover ham after the holidays Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup with Collard Greens is a favorite use in our house, and a must have for  New Years Day. I like adding the sautéed collard greens to the top for an additional pop of flavor.

According to superstition Black-Eyed Peas will bring you prosperity in the New Year. I'm not one to mess with tradition when it entails a hearty bowl of comfort.

Comforting, and hearty, the perfect soup to warm your bones at the end of a cold day.

Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie

It just doesn't get much better then Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie.

The cheesy gravy, veggies loaded with lots of broccoli, and flaky tender crust makes my taste buds do a happy dance.

What I love most about Ham Pot Pie is it's a great way to use up leftover ham from the holidays.

I'm always looking for different ways to use up the leftovers so the kids don't become board. If I'm not lucky enough to have leftover ham I will use a ham steak.

Either way it's a must make!

Here's how I make our family favorite Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie:

Chicken Fried Steak With Sausage Gravy

Chicken Fried Steak with Sausage Gravy perfect for breakfast or dinner! serenabakessimplyfromscratch.com
I promised you my beloved recipe for Chicken Fried Steak with Sausage Gravy the other day when I shared my recipe for Buttermilk Drop Biscuits, because they go together like love and marriage...You can't have one without the other.

So sorry if you now have that song stuck in your head too, but Chicken Fried Steak, Buttermilk Drop Biscuits, smothered in Sausage Gravy all together really is a must! This is Colt's all time favorite breakfast along side Biscuits and Gravy, so I decided to make it for him because I love that crazy man, and he went out shopping with me at 10pm on a Friday night a few weeks back when the news said we had the windstorm of a century coming. I figured I better feed everyone well before the big windstorm hit, and we lost power for days on end. Luckily the storm never arrived, but everyone was beyond stuffed, and content in food coma!

I highly recommend making Chicken Fried Steak with Sausage Gravy for a weekend breakfast or dinner. Whatever you do don't make Chicken Fried Steak during the week for breakfast because once food coma hits it might make it hard to make it through the rest of the work day, as you dream about lounging on your couch in your pajama's drinking coffee, and marathon watching Netflix episodes..

Who am I kidding just make it for the ones you love! They will love you for it!
