Rock Candy

Sunday, December 18, 2022
Rock Candy is a favorite candy to make in our house for Christmas. You can use whatever flavors you enjoy like cinnamon, cherry, grape, anise, and so many more. Rock Candy is sometimes referred to as Sea Glass Candy or Hard Candy.

It's a delicious hard candy recipe and it can be wrapped in decorative bags for a homemade Christmas gift or for stuffing the stockings. It's a Christmas favorite for gift giving. Store Homemade Rock Candy in an air tight container. Other Candies we love to make are Cinnamon Rock Candy, Buttermints, and Chocolate Rum Truffles.

Who else loves to make Rock Candy this time of year? It's a Christmas time must make in our house.

I was just going to re-share our favorite Cinnamon Rock Candy recipe, because I added a video to it finally! It only took me a year to make.. I'm pretty sure I had promised you all a video last Christmas, but it is worth the wait.

So, I decided I would just use the pictures, and do a post on general Rock Candy to answer some of the questions I've received over the years.

This isn't a step by step post like most, but you can always refer to the Cinnamon Rock Candy recipe for photos.

I'm still adding a printable recipe card below the answers. Feel free to scroll down to the bottom if you're just looking for the recipe.

Monday, December 5, 2016
Toffee Candied Walnuts are sweet with a delicious crunchy buttery toffee coating. They use a combination of brown sugar and white sugar, that is caramelized with butter and vanilla for a delicious crunchy glaze to the walnuts just like toffee. We love to add them to salads or desserts like ice cream sundaes for a little sweet toffee crunch. Toffee Walnuts they are irresistible not to snack on and a favorite homemade Christmas gift.

After my physical therapy appointment a few weeks back, Colt and I decided to make a date night out of our trip to Seattle, and wait out rush hour traffic.

We had a nice dinner, and of course when the waiter arrived with the dessert menu we couldn't turn it down. He recommended Butterscotch Pudding with Toffee Walnuts, and we were sold! Each bite was like tasting heaven.

It was so good I had to recreate it, but into a Butterscotch Banana Pudding Pie with Toffee Walnuts. I can't wait to share the rest of the recipe with you later in the week. Toffee Walnuts are delicious on their own, as a garnish to a salad, or to add a little crunch to your favorite dessert.

The possibilities are endless.

Toffee Walnuts also make a great addition to the holiday candy trays or served with cheese.

These Chocolate Rum Truffles are perfect with a glass of Champagne for New Years Eve or Valentines Day.

Chocolate Rum Truffles are a favorite candy recipe to make and Christmas, New Years, and Valentines Day from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

We've been enjoying these boozy Chocolate Rum Truffles over the holidays and I can't wait to make another batch for New Years Eve.

I love Toffee but Saltine Toffee Barks even better it's a salty crunchy sweet party on the taste buds and won't break your teeth. It never lasts long in our house, I'm pretty sure I made it about 4 times last Christmas and still never ended up with a picture to share the recipe!

This recipes a little different than most recipes because I use granulated sugar over brown sugar, and then it is cooked until it starts to caramelize for a delicious toffee flavor with a bit of vanilla.

This stuff is like crack once you taste a piece it will be hard to stop, I've had way more then my fair share today and I'm still dreaming of my next little piece of toffee.. If you have favorite neighbors, friends, family or co-workers this is a fabulous treat to give it's bound to be a long time favorite.

How to make easy Homemade Caramel Sauce that is delicious drizzled over ice cream for a sundae, put in your morning coffee, over cakes, cheesecakes, over these Pumpkin Cheesecake Crumb Bars, and Caramel Dutch Apple Pie.. You really can't go wrong wherever you use your Caramel Sauce.

Homemade Caramel Sauce being drizzled over a chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

This Caramel Sauce recipe has been long over due for a few updated pictures.

I still haven't perfected the perfect drizzle caramel drizzle for a photo, but it's an ongoing work in progress.

We are total Caramel Sauce addicts in our house, Colt thinks he needs to live on the stuff.

Can I blame him? Heck no, it's my all time favorite treat too and who doesn't like a little caramel sauce drizzled in their morning coffee, it's better than Starbucks. His drink to make at home using Caramel Sauce is a Snickers Iced Coffee.

We also love it in brownies like these Fudge Brownies with Caramel Swirl and of course drizzled over yesterdays Hawaiian Host Dark Chocolate AlohaMac Brownies.

Mmmm and in or on top of ice cream like Caramel Ice Cream with Caramel Swirl it totally speaks my love language!

Here's how I make this easy Caramel Sauce Recipe:

If you love Oreos and mint this recipe is for you my friend.

Mint Oreo Cookie Balls taste like a creamy chocolaty minty Oreo cookie truffle dipped in mint chocolate.

A little bite of heaven for the holidays. Even if you don't like mint this recipes for you, just don't add it. (I promise not to tell.)

I've actually made Mint Oreo Cookie Balls twice already in the last few weeks because the first time Colt and the kids had a taste testing before we had finished the photos.

So you know they were so disappointed when they found out I had to make another batch, not!

The best part of making these the second time was the kids and Colt were more then willing to help roll, dip, and sprinkle the Oreo balls. Such a fun treat to make for the Holidays as a family.

I can guarantee you these will be made a few more times before Christmas.

Cinnamon Rock Candy

Wednesday, December 7, 2011
Homemade Cinnamon Rock Candy is a favorite Cinnamon Candy recipe to make. It's a delicious hard handy recipe with a delicious mix of sweet and spicy. We make it every Christmas in memory of my husbands Grandmother.

Cinnamon Rock Candy recipe is just like Grandma use to make for Christmas from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Nothing says Merry Christmas like delicious Cinnamon Rock Candy!

I learned to make Cinnamon Rock Candy after my husband and I became married. He has wonderful childhood memories of his Grandmother who would make this for him during the holidays as he grew up. She is such a wonderful woman and will be turning 100 in January! Simply amazing to me.

So now I carry on her tradition for my husband and our own children of having the cinnamon rock candy!

Make sure to use Cinnamon Oil. Cinnamon flavor will not be strong enough. Cinnamon oil can usually be found at craft stores or specialty stores with the candy making supplies.

Enjoy!
