With the cooler weather comes a regular rotation of chili. A few other Chili recipes we love are Chicken Chili Verde, Darn Good Chili, and Chipotle Black Beans. If you have leftover chipotle peppers you need to use from making this recipe Crock Pot Chipotle Ham and Bean Soup is another favorite.
This months Yahoo Shine Supper Club Challenge is One Pot Meals and I thought what better way to celebrate then with my favorite Chicken Sweet Potato Chili.
It's football season in case you don't have football fever going around your house like it's going around mine. It really is just the boys in the house it seems to spread to but I always enjoy the food. The Hubby let me know you all love recipes for a good tailgating party. He must be a mind reader I guess. He is pretty incredible! So I decided to take his recommendation.
Just in case you don't have football fever don't fret. If I were you I would just make any excuse to make this. Sooner rather then later because it is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! I mean what a perfect fall comfort food dish! Does life get any better then chipotle peppers, chicken, black beans, sweet potatoes, topped off with a pumpkin ale? I think not!

This looks so amazing, I am so excited to try this recipe! Have a wonderful weekend, Serena :)
sounds fabulous!
awesome..it has got so many ingredients in it. looks lovely.
Love the chipotle, love the chili, love the beer. Sounds perfect for the fall! I bought a season pack of blue moon with this pumpkin ale and a caramel apple ale, both so good. Never thought about cooking with them, that would just slow down my drinking ;)
Take care
Connie
This sounds so tasty! I'll definitely be trying it out this week =)
oooh bookmarking this!! I love the flavors in this, and oh yes we are in full on football season in our house too :)
This looks uber fantastic - you know I'm a sucker for anything with chipotle seasoning in it, and I especially love the use of sweet potato. Great use of the pumpkin ale.
Hello,
I love spicy food but my family...not so much. This recipe sounds so good so I must try it but I heard chipotle in adobo sauce is rather hot.
Any recommendations for how to make it less spicy but still with a small kick?
Half the amount of chipotle/adobo or quarter it??
Thanks!
You can easily just start with a quarter of the chipotle and then taste after an hour and see if you would like it a little hotter add a little more.
Hi - just found your recipe through tasty kitchen. This looks amazing! Do you think the two hours of cooking on low heat could be done in a crock pot on low? I wanted to put this on and then run some errands later today.
Hi Natalie I would let the chili sit in a crock pot for more like 6 hours because the heat is so low and it takes it a while even to come to a simmer! This would works fabulous in a crock pot! Have a fantastic day!
This is what fall is all about! Looks fantastic.
What a creative chili! It looks AMAZING! I might have to try to create a vegan version of this. :) Thanks for the amazing recipe!
What could I use in place of the beer? I live in a dry country, so beer is unavailable.
Hi Ginger,
Water or broth would make an excellent alternative.
Is the diced chicken cooked before adding , or diced raw-then cooked?
Great question.. The chicken is diced raw and then cooked.
Hi Serena,
Can you cook the onions and then put everything in a slow cooker?
Hi,
Yes if you cooked the onions first it would work great in the slow cooker! I hope you enjoy it!
Hi Serena,
Your Chipotle Chicken Sweet Potato Pumpkin Chili looks amazing with fabulous fall flavors! Thank you so much for sharing this Chili with Texas Star Chili Cook Off and the very best luck to you!
Miz Helen
I've made this several times in a crock pot (about 6 hours on low) - I cooked the onions first, used a roasted chicken from the grocery store shredded, and canned beans. It's fabulous!
