An Asian Spin on classic coleslaw this Asian Coleslaw is filled with green cabbage, red cabbage, shredded carrots, green onions, and cilantro. It's tossed with a perfectly balanced sweet and sour asian dressing made with plenty of toasted sesame seed oil, honey, rice wine vinegar, and just a little heat from crushed red pepper flakes for a delicious Cole Slaw recipe without mayo.

Asian Coleslaw goes well with just about any barbecue recipe, fish or chicken. We love to serve it with Sticky Sweet and Sour Ribs, Orange Peel Chicken, these easy Crock Pot BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches

I love Coleslaw and I love having lots of different variations of the classic. Asian Coleslaw has so much flavor and is simple enough to make for a busy weeknight but packed with enough flavor to deserve a spot at the next barbecue or potluck. I frequently get asked for the recipe because it's that good. 

In all technicality coleslaw is not authentic Asian but since this salad has all the delicious flavors that make Asian food so addictive I don't know what else to call it.

This recipe was first shared in my Slow Cooked Korean Pulled Beef Recipe but I felt it deserved its own spot on my site.
 

To make this Asian Coleslaw is simple in a large bowl combine: 
  • 1/2 head Medium Green Cabbage, Shredded
  • 1/2 head Small Red Cabbage, Shredded
  • 3/4 cup Shredded Carrots
  • 1/2 bunch Cilantro, Stems Removed and Chopped 
  • 3 whole Green Onions, Sliced 
To make the Asian Coleslaw Dressing in a shaker jar or blender add:
  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
  • 1/3 cup Rice Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1/2 whole Lime, Juiced
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seed Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Shake or blend together until well combined.


Drizzle Asian Dressing over the top of slaw and toss until well combined.
