Apple Cider Caramels

Thursday, October 15, 2026
Apple Cider Caramels are a mix between hot caramel apple cider and apple pie in a soft and chewy candy. Apple Cider is cooked down to give a concentrated apple flavor that will make these irresistible. They are a Halloween favorite, great for holiday gift giving and a must add addition to Christmas candy trays.

Peach Moscow Mule

Sunday, April 2, 2023
Peach Moscow Mule Cocktail or Mocktail is a delicious easy to make drink recipe.

A side photo of a Peach Moscow Mule Cocktail and a Peach Moscow Mule Cocktail in tall skinny glasses with a stainless steel straw and a lime wheel to garnish the edge of each glass.
We had fun in the kitchen the other night making Peach Moscow Mule Mocktails as an extra special treat.

In case you've never heard of a Mocktail before it's an alcohol free version of a cocktail, perfect for baby showers, family gatherings or just a special treat. But you could totally add a shot of your favorite vodka for an adult version of this Peach Moscow Mule.

The Agave Ginger Peach combo makes these a summertime favorite but perfect year around with the sweetness of the peaches and the spice of ginger.

Apple Pie Crumb Bars

Wednesday, June 23, 2021
Apple Pie Crumb Bars are the perfect hybrid dessert of Apple Pie and Apple Crisp in one delicious easy to make bar recipe!

Apple Pie Crumb Bars are the perfect combination of apple pie and crisp making this the perfect Thanksgiving recipe for dessert from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

I made Apple Pie Crumb Bars, because I couldn't decide if I wanted an Apple Pie or Crisp. I love the crumbly top and bottom crust with the tart, sweet, cinnamony apple filling.

Apple Pie Crumb Bars are an easy to make hybrid of the two and perfect for a crowd! They have plenty of crumb for all my crumb lovers out there with plenty of apple filling!

Lorna and I made 2 pans of these Apple Pie Crumb Bars so we had a pan to share and a pan for home because they never last long in our house.

I also highly suggest a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream because there's nothing better in life then appley, cinnamony, crumbly goodness with a good old scoop of vanilla.

I just happened to accidentally leave the vanilla ice cream out the night before so we had to enjoy our Apple Pie Crumb Bars at home without it but they were still amazing.

You really can't go wrong with these.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Friday, November 13, 2020
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls are the best for breakfast or brunch. These are soft, tender, and gooey.

A special strep makes these homemade yeast rolls from scratch the best Cinnamon Roll Recipe!

Worlds Greatest Cinnamon Rolls drizzled with Buttermilk Cream Cheese Icing on a white plate.

It's Monday and my husband had the day off, so I had made the Worlds Best Cinnamon Rolls recipe.

I refrigerated them so we could have hot ooey gooey Cinnamon Rolls this morning for breakfast.

I also might have been buttering him up to help pick blackberries today to freeze and make Blackberry Jam tomorrow.

There is nothing better then throwing some Cinnamon Rolls in the oven and 30 minutes later a life altering event will occur to your taste buds.

I love refrigerating the dough so all I have to do is turn on the oven and throw in the rolls, my eyes don't even need to open yet.

My Granny would make Cinnamon Rolls at least a few times a month growing up and it still brings back warm fuzzes with every bite, yet I was never able to have her recipe as she had passed before I was of age to ask.

I usually make Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas morning and have been working on the ultimate Cinnamon Roll recipe for years and I feel confident enough to share this luscious recipe finally!

After trying just about every Cinnamon Roll I could get my hands on over the years I feel confidently saying these belong on the list of the World's Greatest Cinnamon Rolls.

Here's how to make these amazing Homemade Cinnamon Rolls:

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Recipe

Thursday, April 4, 2019
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Recipe with Crumble Topping from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

The minute ripe strawberries and rhubarb start appearing at the grocery store I add the recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Pie with crumble topping to the dessert menu.

Anything strawberry rhubarb speaks Colt's love language, it goes straight to his heart. It reminds him of childhood at his Grandma's house and makes him a little giddy.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie is a lightly sweetened strawberry rhubarb filling with a hint of cinnamon covered with a vanilla brown sugar crumble topping.

Absolutely delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How to make a Charcuterie Board

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Blue Diamond®. The opinions and text are all my own.

How to make a gorgeous Charcuterie Board from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

The holidays are in full swing and one of my favorite things to make is a charcuterie board. Not only are charcuterie boards gorgeous, but there's guaranteed to be something to nibble on for everyone.

It's perfect for lunch, a mid-day nibble, or to keep everyone content until dinner. It is a must for all your holiday parties, and a real show stopper if you've been put in charge of the appetizers this year.

Pumpkin Cheesecake With Butterscotch Swirl

Monday, October 15, 2018
Pumpkin Cheesecake With Butterscotch Swirl is a fun twist on a classic dessert!

Autumn is finally here and with that comes all the amazing flavors like pumpkin, apple, caramel and of course butterscotch. Since this is the first #SundaySupper since fall has begun we are celebrating with all the flavors of fall and I couldn't think of something more fitting then a Pumpkin Cheesecake With Butterscotch Swirl.

I actually had to make 2 of these this week because the first time I tried to incorporate the Butterscotch Swirl directly into the Pumpkin Cheesecake but the butterscotch is too dense and fell into the cake instead of floating on top like I envisioned which would have been ok but the swirling into the cheesecake left some rather nasty looking cracks.

Colt quickly snuck the cheesecake to work the next day where he said it was devoured. Luckily he said it had tasted amazing so I decided it was worth forging forward with a few modifications.

So for the second Pumpkin Cheesecake with Butterscotch Swirl I decided to cover the cheesecake in a sweetened sour cream and then I swirled the butterscotch into the sour cream topping for an elegant dessert perfect for fall.

If you're unsure of the sweetened sour cream topping you can serve it on the side with a drizzle of butterscotch sauce over the top or use stabilized whipping cream instead.

The flavors of this are perfect after even a heavy meal like Thanksgiving since the sweetened sour cream topping helps cut through the richness of the cheesecake providing a nice contrast.

Winter Fruit Salad

Wednesday, November 30, 2016

Winter Fruit Salad is filled with Oranger, Grapefruit, Pears, and Pomegranate Seeds with an easy Feta Poppy Seed Dressing. A favorite for Thanksgiving and Christmas from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

Winter Fruit Salad with Feta Poppy Seed Dressing has all the winter fruit I love.. The smell of the fresh citrus at the market always leaves me inspired this time of year.

Fruit Salad in the winter is a great way to enjoy fruit for brunch, lunch, or dinner, and it makes a great accompaniment to holiday gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The feta really adds a nice contrast of flavors to the oranges, grapefruit, and pears. The Feta Poppy Seed Dressing helps the Winter Fruit Salad keep from browning with all the citrus juice, and really brings the flavors together.

Even if you are hesitant of feta in the Winter Fruit Salad I suggest giving it a try, LJ is fairly particular about cheese, but absolutely loved the feta with the winter fruit.

Here's the recipe for Winter Fruit Salad with a Citrus Honey Poppy Seed Dressing.

How To Assemble The Ultimate Cheese Board with 13 Dips

Tuesday, November 22, 2016
How To Assemble The Ultimate Cheese Plate with 13 different Dips for the holidays!

With Thanksgiving almost upon us I thought I would share a few of my favorite tips, and tricks, to assemble The Ultimate Cheese Board with 13 Favorite Dips. There's something fun and exciting about the revealing of a gorgeous arrangement of snacks at gatherings. People love to nibble while waiting for dinner, and a well arranged Cheese Platter can keep everyone content even if delayed.

When assembling a Cheese Tray I usually aim for 2-4 different varieties so there's something for everyone. The first cheese I choose is something simple like an aged cheddar, or on this occasion we used a Dill Havarti. The next cheese or two can be something a little more daring, if you like to try new things. I had made an Herbed Goat Cheese Spread on this occasion, the creamy texture makes a wonderful addition to the meats and cheeses.

Once I have decided on cheeses I move on to adding 1-2 Meats like Salami, Coppa, or Prosciutto. I also limit bread and crackers to 2-3 options, or it can simple become to much. I will also usually choose a favorite dip or two, if we are feeding a crowd.

Finally I choose fillers like dried or fresh fruit, nuts, vegetables, olives, and pickles.

I like to use a large wooden board or marble slab to arrange everything for simple nibbling.

Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup With Collard Greens

Friday, November 18, 2016
Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup With Collard Greens a great use for leftover holiday ham!

Brrr... It's been rather chilly the last few days, leaving me craving any kind of hearty soup. I love Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup with Collard Greens since it's thick and creamy. The perfect comfort food on a cold day.

If your lucky enough to have leftover ham after the holidays Ham Black-Eyed Pea Soup with Collard Greens is a favorite use in our house, and a must have for  New Years Day. I like adding the sautéed collard greens to the top for an additional pop of flavor.

According to superstition Black-Eyed Peas will bring you prosperity in the New Year. I'm not one to mess with tradition when it entails a hearty bowl of comfort.

Comforting, and hearty, the perfect soup to warm your bones at the end of a cold day.

Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie

Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie

It just doesn't get much better then Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie.

The cheesy gravy, veggies loaded with lots of broccoli, and flaky tender crust makes my taste buds do a happy dance.

What I love most about Ham Pot Pie is it's a great way to use up leftover ham from the holidays.

I'm always looking for different ways to use up the leftovers so the kids don't become board. If I'm not lucky enough to have leftover ham I will use a ham steak.

Either way it's a must make!

Here's how I make our family favorite Ham and Broccoli Pot Pie:

Black Olive Tapenade

Tuesday, October 18, 2016
Easy Black Olive Tapenade recipe is a delicious appetizer or sandwich spread. A favorite on Charcuterie boards for crackers to go with cheese from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

We love Olives in our house and Black Olive Tapenade is a favorite to spread on sandwiches or over crostini with  Herbed Goat Cheese Spread. It's wonderful as a light lunch or an easy appetizer for company.

I find the Black Olive Tapenade a little more kid friendly then some of the other version, and the kids enjoy it as much as we do.

By using black olives and rinsing the kalamata olives it helps to keep the Tapenade from being bitter.

It can be made a day ahead of time and refrigerated to allow the flavors to mingle, making it perfect for holiday entertaining. It pairs deliciously with meat, cheeses, wine, and is perfect for your next Charcuterie or Cheese Board.

Here's how to make Black Olive Tapenade.

Our Classic Baked Beans From Scratch are a family favorite for picnics, potlucks, and barbecues that everyone loves. Homemade Baked Beans are an easy recipe to make and great for Father's Day Barbecues, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. They go so well with just about any meat you throw on the grill.

If you're needing to save time you can use 4 15 ounce cans Great Northern Beans in place of dried beans in a pinch.

We also love to serve Italian Antipasto Pasta Salad and Jalapeño Coleslaw when we barbecue.

I've been meaning to redo the pictures for Baked Beans From Scratch for the last 3 years but it never seemed to work out whenever  I made them, so this last weekend Colt snapped a photo before they were devoured.

If you've never made Baked Beans they are super easy to make and worth the effort, the flavors are amazing, and so much better then anything you might find in a can!

Absolutely perfect for your next barbecue.

Top 10 Posts of 2015 from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.
Is it me or did this last year seem like someone hit the fast forward button and time just flew by? Only if there was an extra slow motion button to use every so often!

To celebrate New Years Eve I have the Top 10 Post of 2015! You all obviously have good taste because this years top recipes could and do easily grace our table on a regular basis.

I could have never imagined when I started this blog 4 years ago how many of you would be making my recipes on a regular basis! I love that you leave me messages or tag me in pictures on Facebook and Instagram of the recipes you made from Serena Bakes Simply From Scratch.

It was fun to see how many of you were enjoying the same Turkey that graces our table every year for Thanksgiving and to know your family loved it as much as we do! You also blew up my email requesting my recipe for Crock-Pot Stuffing so Colt made sure to grab a few photos at Thanksgiving so it was no longer just a promise of a recipe.

Traffic dropped briefly after Thanksgiving only to spike to another record high on Christmas Eve, other bloggers were talking about a slow down in traffic but we were still chugging along! That again is all of you choosing to let me be part of you Christmas Eve / Day celebrations! I really couldn't have asked for a better Christmas gift then knowing you were enjoying the recipes as much as we do!

My heart was completely overfilled at this point but on December 27th when traffic really should have dropped y'all continued sharing my recipes, and Banana Pudding Cheesecake went completely viral, with 234,000 share on Facebook! I really have the best readers and I couldn't be more thankful!
I can't tell you how many times I'm having a rough day only to find an amazing comment from one of you!

I also have to say Thank You to Colt who has stepped in as my camera man 2 1/2 years ago and has continued to encourage me to keep doing what I love in the midst of fighting chronic pain!

To my Granny, Grandmothers, Aunts, and friends Mothers who gave me a love of the kitchen, and allowed me to make a mess in your kitchen at a young age, I can't Thank You enough! I guess this turned into sounding a little like the Grammies but I had to let you all know just how full you have left my heart in 2015!

It's not that it was always easy but it's always worth it! I LOVE you all, wait is that weird? I don't care I love you guys!!!

I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year filled with love, prosperity, and great memories!

Asian Sloppy Joe Sliders with Coleslaw are perfect for holiday entertaining.

We love serving these as a light lunch to tide company over until dinner, or with an assortment of finger foods for bite-size nibbles to enjoy while mingling. We all know the messier the better when it comes to food!

These combine Sloppy Joe's with Asian Fusion for amazing flavor in a small party appetizer.

I used a combination of ground pork and ground beef seasoned with fresh ginger, garlic, chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame seed oil, lime, and fresh cilantro, for a wonderful fusion of flavors.

Green cabbage, purple cabbage, thinly julienned carrots, and fresh cilantro, combined with a sweet tangy vinaigrette with sesame seed oil to compliment the perfectly seasoned meat.

Chewy small dinner rolls like sourdough makes the perfect vessel for serving if you can't find slider buns.

Hot Dungeness Crab Dip

Saturday, October 31, 2015
A flavorful Hot Crab Dip that is easy to prepare. It's a favorite at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, and Tailgating parties since it can be made head of time and baked later. It's made with cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan cheese, shallot, chives, fresh dill, lemon juice, hot sauce, and of coarse lots of delicious lump crab meat.

Are you looking for more delicious Hot Party Dip Recipes? Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip, Hot Cheesy Bacon Dip, and Hot Seafood Artichoke Dip are other reader favorites.

Hot Crab Dip is perfect appetizer for easy entertaining. With the first of November already upon us we are gathering recipes this week for Easy Holiday Entertaining with Sunday Supper!

I don't know about you but I am always looking for ways to make things a little bit easier during the holidays.

I usually add Hot Crab Dip to our hors-d'oeuvre list since it's not only easy to make but can be assembled the night before, refrigerated and then baked right before serving. The less things to worry about once company arrives the better in my book.

Plus Hot Dungness Crab Dip is one of those special things we consider a treat reserved for special occasions making it perfect for your holiday entertaining whether it's Thanksgiving, Christmas or even New Years, it's sure to impress your company.

I also may have a serious crab addiction so the more excuses to enjoy crab the better! I highly recommend Dungeness crab for it's delicious flavor for this recipe, King crab will do to but I would avoid canned crab since the flavor just isn't the same as fresh or frozen.

Greek Feta Dip

Thursday, January 29, 2015
Greek Feta Dip is an easy to make whipped dip recipe with fresh herbs. It's always a hit at parties! It simple to make with ingredients you might already have on hand. It's always requested for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Tailgating, and any other gatherings we have. It's easy enough to make just for snacking.

Greek Feta Dip in a small bowl with pita chips spread around the edge.
Colt and I were shopping at Trader Joes last weekend and they were sampling their Greek Feta Dip with Pita Chips so of course we had to try it.

Then we thought about buying it but I was like you know I have just about everything at home to make this and you would have more then what comes in that little container.

So he reluctantly agreed to let me try and replicate the Feta Dip. I'm pretty sure he didn't believe I could come up with something the equivalent or better but I managed to knock his socks off with this one.

He told me I better have this posted before Superbowl because this Greek Feta Dip needs to be at everyones party. He then went on to tell me we will having this at our house for Superbowl before he managed to polish off the last of the dip.

Good thing this is a super easy recipe because it looks like we will be making it again for Sunday!
