Hot Apple Cider Buttered Whiskeys are a perfect warm up for holiday entertaining.

YAY! The weekends finally here, and it should definitely include these Hot Apple Cider Buttered Whiskeys..

It's by far my favorite cocktail to make at the moment, and is always a hit to serve at Thanksgiving! It's based on our other favorite and super popular Hot Apple Cider Buttered Rum. You can't go wrong with either of these. Really the only difference is I added some orange zest to compliment the whiskey.

If I have time I like to make the buttered mixture a day or two before to allow the flavors to develop in the fridge making it perfect for entertaining. If you forgo the apple cider and use hot water instead you can make a Hot Buttered Whiskey, but will need to use more of the spiced butter mixture to flavor the cocktails about 1 1/2- 2 tablespoons. Personally the addition of apple cider really makes these one of my favorites however.

Obviously you can leave out the alcohol for a virgin option. It's super tasty either way.

Hot Apple Cider Buttered Whiskey beat together butter, vanilla, orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, salt.

Beat together 3/4 cup Soft Butter, 2 teaspoons Vanilla, 2 teaspoons Grated Orange Zest, 1 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon, 3/4 teaspoon Nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon Allspice, 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon Salt, until well combined.

Hot Apple Cider Buttered Whiskey beat in brown sugar with honey.

Add 2 cups Brown Sugar, and 1 tablespoon Honey. Mix until well combined scraping bowl several times.

Hot Buttered Whiskey Mix.

Store in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Hot Apple Cider Buttered Whiskeys are a perfect warm up for holiday entertaining.

To Assemble: Place 2 teaspoons Spice Butter mixture into glass. Dissolve using hot apple cider, and stir in 1 shot good quality Whiskey. Garnish glass with cinnamon sticks, and orange peel.

Not much of a whiskey fan, but I've got to try this!

  4. do you think this would work if I heated cider in a crock pot on very low and added the butter mixture to have hot and ready to serve instantly and for a crowd?

    1. Yes, it will work. The only thing is if you add the whisky to the mixture some of the alcohol may cook off.. Thanks, Serena

  5. Would it be too much if I made this with mulled apple cider (which I planned to make for the kids?)

    1. Hi! I haven't tried it to be able to say for sure. You can always reduce the buttered mixture into the glass and add more if you feel it needs it or reduce the spices in the butter mixture that are in the mulled cider mix, Mulled Cider has a lot of the same flavors so it could be really delicious as long as its not over powering. Thanks, Serena
